Jacob Breen - [Hitting > Pitching > Fielding > Defense]

Jacob began his college athletic career as a freshmen playing for the  Birmingham-Southern College Panthers.  Now in his second collegiate year, plays for the USC Upstate Spartans, a Division 1A school.  Another one of our local talents, Jacob graduated from Sprayberry High School where he lettered 3 consecutive years.

Through the many years of attending and providing baseball skills related instruction, Jacob offers a complete list of training solutions for his students.  Jacob focuses on proper mechanics and can offer every athlete with immediate improvements in Hitting, Fielding, Defense and Pitching.

Rick Elder - [Hitting > Pitching > Fielding > Defense]

Rick was selected 1st team High School All-American by Baseball America in 1998, hitting .509 with 17 homers. In 1999 he was selected Appalachian League All-Star as a DH where he set a minor league record, with 6 walks in one game. He also set numerous records at Sprayberry High School as well as in the East Cobb program. In 1995, Rick was part of the state championship team at Sprayberry. In 1996 won East Cobb player of the year honors, hitting .423 and going 13-0 with a 0.83 ERA.  In 1997 was named East Coast showcase Most Valuable Player.  Selected by Baltimore Orioles in 1st Round (26th overall) of 1998 amateur entry draft and in Dec of 2002 was selected by Cleveland Indians from Baltimore Orioles in Rule 5 minor league draft.

For the past 3 years Rick has been playing in the independent leagues, most recently with Fullerton Flyers, were he served a player coach position as a right fielder and assistant hitting coordinator to the team. While in pro ball he learned many different drills and skills which provide proper mechanics in hitting and fielding. His pitching knowledge is from working with Davis May while in high school.  Cobb Sports Complex is proud to bring Rick on board with or team of instructors for our players to take their skills to the next level.

Wes Folger- [Pitching > Hitting > Fielding > Defense]

Wes played 2 seasons at Nebraska, and 2 seasons at Oklahoma.  During this time, he learned the importance of having correct fundamentals and techniques.  Wes has Coached High School, Travel, and Overseas Travel Teams.  Wes has Coached 3 Gold Medal teams.  One in the Australian Friendship Games, and 2 in the Holland Friendship Games. His desire and focus is to correct improper mechanics that lead to underdevelopment and injury. 

Wes has been instructing for the past 7 years.  He passes down fundamental techniques and drills, he learned at the Collegiate level to players of all ages.  Wes also offers Coaching Clinics for coaches who would like to have team organizational tips and an overview of necessary fundamentals.  Immediate improvement can be expected in the areas of pitching, hitting, throwing, and fielding.

 

 

Brian Parish - [Pitching > Hitting > Fielding > Defense]

Brian was named the 2004 MAAC conference Relief Pitcher of the Year by posting a 3.71 ERA and 31 Strikeouts in 30 innings as a closer.  Currently, Parish holds the New York State, High School record for strikeouts in a single season with 171 in 70 innings.  Parish was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 25th round of the 2004 first year player draft.  Closed one of the few combined no hitters in minor league history in 2004.

Now living in the Cobb County area, Brian becomes a valuable instructor to the youth in our community.  Brian's instruction can provide immediate improvement in the areas of Pitching, Middle In-Field Defense and Hitting.

Chris Sears - [Hitting > Pitching > Fielding > Catching]

Chris played high school baseball here in Cobb County, playing for both North Cobb and Kennesaw Mountain.  While playing, Chris led the county in RBI’s and was ranked among the county leaders in every offensive category.  After completing his high school career, Chris went on to play baseball at Oglethorpe University, where injuries required him to take time from baseball and pursue other options.  After taking some time off, Chris had workouts with scouts from both the Royals and the Reds but never signed.  Chris has been involved with baseball in the Cobb County for four years giving personal lessons and working baseball camps with Braski Sports. 

Additionally, Chris served as an assistant coach for the STaF Baseball Program’s 17 and 18 yr. team, coaching a team that place fifth in the B.E.S.T. Baseball World Series.  All but two players from this team went on to sign college scholarships.  Chris also works as personal trainer for Gold’s Gym, and is ISSA and IFTA certified.  Currently, Chris plays for the Atlanta Diablos, a MSBL team that is in contention for its third state championship in the last four years.

Skip Shipp [Pitching > Catching > Hitting > Fielding]

Skip signed his first professional contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1984.  He finished his professional career in 1999 with the Atlanta Braves.  During this time, he learned the importance of having correct fundamentals and techniques.  His desire and focus is to correct improper mechanics that lead to underdevelopment and injury.

Skip has been instructing for the past 10 years.  He passes down fundamental techniques and drills, he learned at the professional level to players at all ages.  Skip also offers Coaching Clinics for coaches who would like to have team organizational tips and an overview of necessary fundamentals.  Immediate improvement can be expected in the areas of pitching, catching, hitting, and fielding.   Owner of Braski Sports, Skip will be available to provide professional instruction at the Cobb Sports Complex facility.

Ted Wood - [Pitching > Catching > Hitting > Fielding]

Ted was a member of the 1988 USA Olympic Team (Gold) and holds the record for the highest batting average for the USA in Olympic Competition. In 1988, Ted signed with the SF Giants one of their first round draft picks. In 1991, Ted led the PCL (AAA Giants) with 109 RBIs and was called up to San Francisco in 1991. Ted moved to the Montreal Expos organization from 1993-95, played for Aquascalientes Rieleros (Mexico) in 1996 under the Boston Red Sox, Chinese Professional Baseball League (Taiwan) from 1997-99, and Lotte Giants Baseball Team (South Korea) in 2000.

Ted has been instructing for the past 9 years. Through his experience and dedication to the sport, students excel by understanding and exercising proper mechanics. Immediate improvement can be expected in the areas of pitching, catching, hitting, and fielding.  He resides in Kennesaw with his wife of 17 years (Olga), and 2 daughters (Nadia, 15 and Dior 13).
